A family of diverse people, with a variety of gifts, called to discipleship, led by one Spirit, and united in service and mission to God
We believe this is an essential part of caring for God’s people who all depend on these resources. We are washing more dishes. We are taking steps to remove all styrofoam cups and plates from our pantry to reduce the use of disposable products. When we do need disposables, we are moving to products that we can recycle and/or compost. In an effort to let our spending be an act of justice, we pursue the purchase of fair trade products such as those from Equal Exchange. The Green Team includes our entire congregation in the effort to promote good stewardship of the natural resources provided by God.
We remain mindful of our responsibility for the conservation of energy. We have improved insulation and lighting to reduce our energy consumption and cost. We are currently reassessing our energy use and are preparing to make changes that further reduce demand.
We believe in caring for our bodies as God's temple on earth. We encourage one another to eat more healthfully, and we see healthier foods at our potluck meals.
Join us in this work both in the life of HUMC and at home!
