HUMC CHILDREN

Teaching, Growing, Living into the stories of our faith.

We believe that Children’s Ministry is vital.  Statistics show that the lessons learned during these years can shape how our children live out the rest of their lives.

Our Children’s Ministry Team seeks to plant the seeds of faith each week by telling stories. The stories of our faith that help us know what it means for us to live as followers of Jesus. These stories help us to learn and explore faith as well as give us examples of others who have chosen the path of following Jesus.

Nursery

Nursery is available for newborns – preschool aged.  Nursery is available during Sunday School and Worship. Please be sure to send diapers and wipes with your child if needed.  Please make sure the nursery staff is aware of any food allergies or special needs of your child.

Middle School

Our Middle School small group meets on Sunday evenings. They focus on a variety of topics throughout the school year. Our hope is to deepen our students’ relationship with the scriptures that will equip them for life.

Children in Worship

Children’s Worship bags are available in the narthex, they are filled with a Children’s Worship Bulletins and crayons.  There are also drawstring bags available to collect pennies. During worship children are invited to collect pennies and bring them up front as they gather for Children’s Moment at the front of the Sanctuary.  Children are welcome to stay in worship. All children are welcome to participate in communion.

All children 4 years to 4th grade are invited to attend Children’s Church. We lead the children out of the sanctuary  after Children’s Moment. Please let the Children’s Church teachers know if your child has special needs. Your child will need to be picked up from Room 8 by a parent or guardian after worship.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is held in the summer.  Vacation Bible School happens in the evenings.  Each night there is a Bible Story, interactive drama, arts and crafts, games, music, and snacks!  Our last evening is always a night of food and fun for the whole family!!!

Safe Sanctuaries — We want to ensure that children at Hillcrest have a safe place to learn and experience the love of God.  In order to do so, we must all work to ensure that children are well supervised.

What this means for your family:

  •  Children need to be dropped off and picked up by an adult when they  are participating in any of our Children’s Ministries.
  •  We need a registration form on each child so that we know of any allergies or special needs as well as emergency contact information.
  • Children need to be  accompanied by an adult if they need to leave the sanctuary during worship.

Health & Wellness

For the health of our children and families, please do not send your child to Children’s Ministry activities if they have had any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours:
